Remember your ABC’s of CPR

Monday, June 1st, 2009
  • Airway: tilt the head back and lift the neck to clear the airway.
  • Breathing: pinch the child’s nose or cover his mouth and nose with your mouth making a tight seal, and give two breaths, watching for the chest to rise with each breath.
  • Circulation: if there is no pulse, administer 30 chest compressions – 1 hand, 1 inch.

3. Continue to perform CPR for 1 to 2 minutes before dialing 9-1-1.

4. Check for pulse and if necessary perform the cycle again, checking for pulse every minute.

Spring Break 2009

Friday, April 10th, 2009

Sunny skies and clear water made for a perfect day of surfing for the Redondo and Santa Monica camps.  Redondo campers started the day by getting fitted with wetsuits and boards, a light stretch and ocean safety lesson.

We don’t joke around by stating we’re a “serious” surf camp…just ask some of the surfers how they liked the opening ceremony of paddling around the quarter mile buoy!

Everyone deserves a gold star for the day…but we do have some superstars that we’d love to acknowledge:  the Kashyap boys and John Lamb for catching the most waves at Redondo and super brave Maya at Santa Monica.  There wasn’t a wave big enough to keep her from charging.   Great job everyone!

Remember the best surfer in the water is the one having the most fun!
